Of course, this would be a difficult undertaking on Apples part, but the way it stands today is that these kinds of redirects are ruining the user experience and consumers end up blaming the publisher, the promoted app, and the platform, like Apple or Google. Websites cant do anything to stop these ads from appearing if they dont know the ads are there.Every mobile advertisement is tagged with a code, so if the publisher figures out the ad tag, it can go back to the ad network and tell them to kill the ad, or not run it on their site.If youd rather not see these ads at all, there are a handful of ad-blocking apps that prevent popups on mobile, just like they do on the Web: Adblock Plus for Android, and Weblock and Adblock for iOS.Alteatively, you can disable JavaScript in your mobile browser. This was very annoying indeed. Hopefully Apple does something about it in a future update, because Lord knows the websites and ad-pushers arent going to change. Stay tuned. All rights reserved. Its most likely a DNS hijack on their router. Do they have to fix it so user experience isnt interrupted? Yes. The company told TechCrunch that it is aware that the problem is happening, but theredirects are not condoned, and the company actively does everything in its power to try and prevent them. I tried everything: clearing my website data, restarting my device, I even tried disabling java script but nothing worked. Ive had this happen to me a couple of times, and its a real pain in the ass. Instead, mobile consumers will have to relyon companies like Apple and Google to shut down the loopholes that advertisers and others are now abusing. fuzzygruf (fuzzygruf) - 3 years ago Reply Ive been having this problem sporadically. Hope you can get rid of it, good luck! Andr Baron (abaron) - 3 years ago Reply So the problem with lies with Apple because someone has found a way to circumvent previously created protections against this? What about the Ad Networks who are serving this junk? Furthermore, these ad networks seem not care about this, flash ads and ads that put banners on the bottom of mobile screens. For a while it had stopped completely, but now its back. lmabe10 - 3 years ago Reply I knew this post had to be written by one of the Bens from the use of the word adverts in the title! Mike Beasley - 3 years ago Reply This is my favorite comment of the week so far. Strange thing is, it doesnt happen to iPad also running 8.3 or 8.4 on the exact same wifi. After that, toggle the guided access and the accessibility shortcut switch to on. Disabling JavaScript stops this from happening, but that isnt really feasible as many websites rely on JavaScript to function, so it doesnt really count as a reasonable solution. Im pretty sure your iPhone is still usable. Its hard to stop at the point of delivery.Because some ad networks charge by the click or install, an advertisement that redirects someone to a download page could make more money for the company. Many of these companies have bad practices, and in the past, some on Android have even gone so far as to push co-installs (when you install one app, they install another) or hijack your default search engine. Paul Beasi - 3 years ago I cant believe I didnt think of that, thanks! Matt Gillette - 3 years ago Reply Hold down shift while launching safari and it wont open the previous windows. I reported this to Google they told me to contact Apple, but they will pass this to their own technicians too.
